Why keywords decide interviews

Many mid-size and large employers screen resumes with applicant tracking systems (ATS) before a person reads them. Those systems look for the skills and keywords the job description names — so a strong resume that uses different words for the same experience can still rank poorly. Extracting a JD's keywords and checking your resume against them is the fastest way to close that gap yourself.

Both tools here are deterministic: the same text always produces the same result, matched against a curated dictionary of 157 skills (covering 199 spellings and aliases — Golang and Go, K8s and Kubernetes, NodeJS and Node.js). There's no AI call behind them, which is exactly why they can be free, instant and private.

When you want more than a quick check

The full Resmate product parses your actual resume file and scores it against a job description across 7 weighted components — keyword coverage in context, title match, experience depth, skill coverage and more — with keyword-level evidence for every point. It can then tailor the resume, with one rule we never break: every AI-added skill needs your approval first.
